Developed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Gökçe Uzgören, Deputy Director of CSYUAM, and Asst. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Erol, Board Member of CSYUAM, the invention titled "Smart Floor Unit Analyzing User Behavior and Providing Adaptive Feedback" was officially granted a patent by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT) on August 21, 2026, under registration number 2026 011726.
The study is designed to function in high-traffic micro-urban spaces such as airports, metro stations, campuses, hospitals, and public squares. Its algorithm and hardware architecture aim to enhance spatial quality across critical processes, including pedestrian guidance automation, real-time density mapping, emergency evacuation protocols, and the improvement of accessibility standards in geriatric and rehabilitation centers.
This patent registration stands as a high-quality academic output aligned with the strategic vision of Istanbul Gelişim University’s Center for Environmental, Urban, and Earth Sciences Application and Research (CSYUAM).
